How my journey began

Oshawa, Durham, Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQ2s+, Therapy, Trauma Informed, Therapist

Jared Kovacs, Registered Psychotherapist, MPS, BA (He/Him)

Before transitioning into psychotherapy and counselling, I spent over a decade working with children and youth in the foster care system. This experience allowed me to develop deep expertise in supporting individuals with complex trauma, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.

As a cisgender gay white settler and a survivor of religious-based conversion therapy, I am keenly aware of the complex interplay of privilege and oppression. I practice within an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and anti-colonial framework, and I am committed to welcoming clients of all races, faiths, gender identities, and sexual orientations. My current areas of focus include religious trauma, managing anxiety and depression, grief processing, identity formation, emotional regulation, and building self-esteem.

Therapy has been transformative in my own journey towards health, and I am passionate about guiding others on their paths to well-being. My therapeutic approach integrates several modalities, including strength-based and trauma-informed care, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I prioritize building a collaborative, empathetic, and authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients to foster personal growth.

I currently practice in my own office in Oshawa, ON, as well as at Botree Psychotherapy and Wellness in Toronto, ON. Additionally, I offer services through video conferencing to accommodate clients' needs.
